A. Pakhomov: My Path to Osteo Mechanics:
1. The starting point was 1990 when I began studying medicine and yoga. The first time I managed to relieve trigeminal nerve pain was around 1991-92, back then we didn't even know the word "osteopathy". I started learning yoga, massage, rehabilitation, and medicine.
2. 1990-1994: Studied modern medical approaches to treating people (paramedical department, Kolomyia Medical School).
3. From 1994 to 2000: Practiced professional massages and methods of assistance that can be classified as gentle manual therapy techniques.
4. Studied human rehabilitation methods using yoga for about 30 years.
5. Studied sports massage and physical therapy methods at Volyn State University, Faculty of Physical Education.
6. Observed and experimented with linear manual therapy methods, known globally as chiropractic, for about 15 years. Chiropractic, which focuses on the spine as the basis of health, was founded by David Palmer (19th century). Some believe Palmer borrowed the idea from Andrew Taylor Still, the founder of osteopathy. Today, I find hard manual therapy methods unacceptable.
7. Trained at the Ukrainian Association of Traditional Manual Therapy and studied various schools and directions of osteopathy.
8. Since 2019, I have been exclusively using gentle techniques, which are easiest to explain through the concept of osteopathy. However, with my own experience and approach to working with the body, I refer to my practice as OM - Osteo Mechanics. Everything is relative, and I agree that my 30 years of experience in human rehabilitation is not a lot, and I continue to study healing methods known in the modern world.
9. Together with Natalia Pakhomova, we work on the idea of a holistic approach to health, enabling people to help themselves through the methods of Vajra Yoga. I conduct regular classes and seminars, teaching the basics of health and preparing yoga instructors. As of 2020, I have trained about 400 yoga instructors worldwide and several dozen Osteo Mechanics specialists.
